I voted mesmer. You will probaly have a tuff time finding a group early on cuz people only know warriors and monks. But later on they are very needed but there is never any there. How easy it would be to kill things when they are shutdown and cant do anything. Empathy and backfire are nice and all the interupts can keep a group alive. As for a secondary. I dont know. ive never made a primary mesmer but i would guess monk. Monk secondary works for everything. you would have to expirement with the secondaries.

Mesmer, though I'm biased It's just too fun to take out monk bosses (especially certain mursaat monk bosses...), who give everyone else so much trouble, in less than 20 seconds. The only downside is most people neglect you until they get to those bosses, but as an up side you eliminate most of the stupid people. But anyway, go with mesmer. They're fun.

Necro/Mesmer's a pretty good combo. You can weaken the enemy as your minions beat them down.

N/E is a really good combo, you have your bone minions / fiends ( my fiends are lvl 18 :P ) and you can heal them with veretas and if your getting killed by a warrior you have meteor shower and inferno to nail it aswel as life leech to take out any unwanted casters.

Necro for me. The minion option really attracted me and soul reaping is a great skill. My secondary would be a mesmer or monk because with soul reaping monks can do a lot of healing and mesmers with backfire can really hurt the enemysability to function.

if you're planning on becoming an anti-caster, then fast-casting > soulreaping, you can steal energy from any foe if you need it anyway

Mesmers own all casters.
Mesmers own all none casters. I'm talking about the "Competition Arenas" 1 on 1. |

I pick mesmer. It was great fun, I have one post ascending, and it's really only then that you get people to look at you nicely.
On the other side, playing a mesmer means you need to know what enemies are where, and what their skills are, so you don't become obsolete. (IE: being anti-caster when there are no casters around). Overall, I found my mesmer more fun than me necro. Me/E is decent for some if you did say, Fast Casting, Fire, then probably inspiration to steal energy. And if you want to interrupt, they work just fine without points in dominaiton (though they help). |

except for warrior creatures that dont have much energy to begin with. besides, soul reaping is from any and all adjacent creatures, not just the one you're currently targeting.

Personally voted Mesmer..
Really depends on what you're doing though.. in PvE Necromancer with it's Soul Reaping can gain massive amounts of energy, in PvP that's less, since there are less people to kill so to speak. Mesmers on the other hand with their fast casting.. have more uses.. you can use it for Anti Caster spells.. really lovely.. And since well later in the game you'll have enough Inspiration Magic skills that drain Energy you won't benefit as much from Soul reaping anymore then if you would without Energy drains. Another nice thing would be.. Mesmer primary.. fast casting or should I say raising.. undead minions. that's just lovely to do =). but either way with both combo's Me/N and N/Me you can't go wrong really. if you go for style.. then take the Necro.. because they have a cooler armor than the Mesmer and they headbang.. I mean who doesn't want that.. the Mesmer does a silly riverdance.. I myself have a Me/N and at the moment use only Mesmer skills for PvP shutting down and energy draining is my thing.. it works miracles |

i voted Mesmer, im a mesmer and i have to say its great. Its hard starting off though, i mean mesmer is a hard class to play as. Your not really doing direct damage, but causing your opponent to do damage to his/er self through your actions. (i think thats a good explaination about what a mesmer does)(you can quote me on that if its good, please give credit to me though). With fast casting you can turn those 8 sec monk rez spells into 4 sec monk rez spells. There is not one necro that has ever beaten me one-on-one (anyone want to try let me know). As a mesmer you will make casters fear to cast their own spells.

Quote:
If you're making a PvE character, I would make a necro, since you'll normally have a much easier time advancing and finding groups, and you can still PvP effectively. If you're making a PvP only character, make a mesmer; they're hands down the best character for PvP. Rico |
